The Annual Wake the Lake F1 Powerboat Race is set for it's 4th straight year at Champions Park Lake in Springfield Ohio adjacent to the Clark County Fairgrounds Aug 8-9. Wake the Lake 4 will be the first major boat race since Covid-19 halted professional sporting events across the US. "The boat racers are excited to get back in their race boats. We've got a lot of new teams and new boats that haven't been in the water this year and they're chomping to race." stated Dana Potts, Promotor of Wake the Lake 4 & Champions Park Lake.

Champions Park Lake offers a unique venue for boat racing that lends itself to operate and execute safety measures in the Covid-19 environment. The venue allows fans to tailgate or camp in their own space and be safe and socially distant from other fans. In addtion the general admission area let's fans bring in their own chairs and sit in the natural amphitheater area with plenty of room to social distance. "We've managed to build a great fan base in Springfield of the boat race and the things that are special such as tailgating and raceview camping gives us an advantage to be able to put on the race in safe manner" mentioned promoter Dana Potts

Additional items that have been implemented is 6 feet deadzones between tailgate spots. Champions Park Lake has also created a sectioned off area to contain and separate the Racers from the fans to eliminate contact. This year racer pits will be closed to spectators and the spectator area will be closed to the racers. The driver parade has been cancelled and lastly spectators must wear face coverings for gate admittance and keep it on when unable to maintain a distance of 6 feet or more outside. "We've spent a lot of time working thru plans and health initiatives with Dean Blair and the Fairgrounds to pull off this amazing APBA Powerboat Race. We can't thank everyone enough for the help to make this event happen and they'll will be plenty of good racing action" stated Dana.

Wake the Lake takes place Aug 8-9. General Admission at gate is $15 per person/$25 for weekend pass and kids 12 and under are FREE. Visit www.championsparklake.com for ticket, tailgate, and camping information.
